The reasonable selection of Slurry Pump is one of the key factors to improve the service life of the pump. The reasonable selection of slurry pump includes several main aspects such as reasonable selection of pump type, performance parameters, material of flow parts, sealing type and transmission mode.
Slurry Pump
There are many types of Centrifugal Slurry Pumps. Different types of pumps should be selected according to the nature of the slurry. Take Warman pumps as an example. L-type pumps can be used for low-abrasive slurry with a weight concentration of less than 30%; high-concentration strong abrasive slurry The pump can be AH type pump; when the liquid level changes greatly and it needs to work under the liquid, SP and KZJL type pumps should be used. When high-lift delivery is required. Choose ZGB, KZJ or HH pumps.
After the pump type is determined, the head and flow are the basis for selecting pump specifications and whether it is connected in series. For conveying high-concentration and strong abrasive slurries, the maximum number of revolutions nmax of the pump is generally not used, and it is more appropriate to choose the number of revolutions around 3/4nmax. When the selected pump is at 3/4 nmax, the flow rate is appropriate but the head cannot be reached, and multiple pumps in series can be used. For Warman pumps, different slurry, the flow range should be limited; for high-concentration and strong abrasive slurry, the flow should be selected within the range of 40-80% of the pump's highest efficiency; for low-concentration slurry, The flow rate should be selected within the range of 40%-100% of the pump's highest efficiency corresponding to the flow rate. Generally, it is not selected in the range of 100%—120% of the highest efficiency corresponding to the flow rate.
During the operation of the slurry pump, the performance of the pump continues to decline due to the wear of the flow-through components, until it cannot meet the requirements of the working conditions. In order to enable the pump to operate for a long time near the rated working conditions, a head margin is usually added when selecting the pump. Generally, the margin is 10% of the rated head.
There are many materials available for the flow parts of the slurry pump, which should be determined according to the room and chemical characteristics of the slurry.
Slurry pumps mainly include packing seals, auxiliary impeller seals and mechanical seals.
The auxiliary impeller seal is generally used under reverse irrigation. The upper pipe pressure should be less than 10% of the pump outlet pressure. This type of shaft seal does not add shaft seal water, but the auxiliary impeller seal reduces the power consumption, generally about 5% of the rated power . The packing seal needs to add shaft seal water, and ensure sufficient water pressure and water volume. The shaft seal water pressure is equal to the pump outlet pressure plus 35Kpa. The mechanical seal needs to add shaft seal water to ensure good sealing and no leakage.
The transmission mode of the slurry pump includes V-belt transmission, elastic coupling transmission, gear reduction box transmission, hydraulic coupling transmission, variable frequency driving device, and SCR speed regulation. Among them, the elastic coupling and the V-belt are cheap and easy to disassemble, and should be given priority.
